Scottish Parliament

The Scottish Parliament Building is the home of the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, within the UNESCO World Heritage Site in central Edinburgh.
Construction of the building commenced in June 1999 and the Members of the Scottish Parliament held their first debate in the new building on 7 September 2004.
This building was right across the street from Holyrood and you can see Arthur's Seat in the distance in one of the photos.
I found it to be a jarring sight amongst all the lovely old buildings of Edinburgh.
I walked around trying to get a decent photo of it but ended up with three rather boring photos.
I bunched them together here because I felt I should include this important site in this gallery.
I am interested in hearing what you all think of the building.
If you view in original you can see the details of the building better.

Your collage is very striking. I have a few photos I took there while on a walk with a local photographer with a different view. It is an interesting building but out of character for sure.

They are strikingly different from Holyrood. I like how you captured the different angles. V

a curious stew of design elements, with more ingredients than a haggis...of note are the appendages shaped like hair dryers, appropriate for Scottish weather..

I don't find it to be an attractive building, and I can understand why it was jarring to see it in the midst of the beautiful, older buildings. V.

I'm not particularly fond of it.

It's a well designed and thought out "modern" building, but personally, I think these old established towns need to build anything new in the same style as the rest of the town. Modern interiors if need be but make them fit into the established surroundings.
IMHO of course
