Today it was the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum In West Branch, Iowa. This is presidential library #12 (of 13) for us. It was very interesting. Herbert Hoover was President when the great depression started. That was the kiss of death as far as reelection was concerned. It is interesting that as Secretary of Commerce under Harding and Coolidge he (among others) fought to reform Wall Street and was rebuffed. Rampant speculation caused the crash.
Aside from the Presidency, Hoover was an international humanitarian feeding and clothing millions of starving people especially in Europe during and after both world wars. Starting with Truman, Hoover served the country in many capacities. He was an effective organizer throughout his life. I got a real insight to him as an individual. He was quite a guy.
