This was never intended to be a published shot.
Before I started using the Olympus GPS app I would gather information for description writing by taking quick shots of street signs, other signs, or hotels, restaurants etc that I could look up the location of later. In truth I still do. The original subject of this shot was the Via Vitruvio street sign.
But then I looked at it.
I'm not sure what has our friend with the sort-of tied shoelaces up on his toes looking forward. It's POSSIBLE that he's looking at me, but his eyes seem focused off to my right. Still, both the pose and the stare are striking. I have a general policy with candids, which is "don't make the person look stupid". In my opinion he doesn't look absurd but his pose certainly does inspire some curiosity about what triggered it.
Then of course there is the dog sniffing the corner, and who doesn't want a dog in their photos?
Thus this shot was elevated from "locational intelligence" to "main gallery".
