In the previous shot I had been heading south west along Corso Buenos Aires. Clearly here I had reversed course and was heading north east, back past our hotel.
Running along the south-west side of that hotel, the (then) Best Western Plus Hotel Galles, is a small street named Via Federico Ozanam. The street was named after a French literary scholar, lawyer, journalist and equal rights advocate who was born in Milano in 1813 and died in Marseille France in 1853. (Although strictly speaking the first part of the street is named the Piazza Lima. It only becomes the Via Federico Ozanam after the first curve in the road. The hotel's address is in fact Piazza Lima, where you will find the main entrance and lobby.)
In this shot I am standing on the other side of that street, shooting down it. In front of me we can see the Caffe La Piazzetta. Unfortunately it appears that this is another one of those "tourist trap" type cafes which take advantage of nearby hotels which cater principally to foreigners. As of February 2023 (yes, it has taken me a while to start looking at these photos), the cafe has a rating of 2/5 stars on Trip Advisor with many of the Italian reviews (there are only 3 English ones) complaining of excessive prices, dirty tables, unfriendly staff and more excessive prices.
We didn't try it. I don't think we missed much.
This isn't the greatest shot I've ever made, but I've included it as a mnemonic of just being on the streets of Milano in the early-ish morning. (I still don't know why the hell I wasn't out and about an hour earlier, and with a 6 and a half year gap between pushing the button and writing this comment, I doubt that I ever will.)
