Two objectives for today's adventure: La Brea Tar Pits and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). They are right next to each other so we only had to park once.
La Brea Tar Pits was certainly near the top of my bucket list. I can remember reading about it in grade school and thinking it must be quite a sight. They have recovered zillions of fossil animals that got stuck in the tar. In certain parts of the site you can smell a hint of asphalt. The museum was quite good. Unfortunately, you couldn't see into any of the sites where active excavations are being done. It was a good place to visit but I have to admit my expectations were sky high and I was a little disappointed.
LACMA was a huge disappointment to me and to Ginny. Most of the art there was crap, modern art. There was an interesting exhibit of motion pictures taken 1895-1907. We watched all of those and enjoyed them. LACMA can't hold a candle to the Getty Museum or the Getty Villa.
