P2260003 The Best Of The View Is Yet To Come

Gumnut Patisserie, Bong Bong Street Bowral NSW view map

"Not an inspiring view", I hear you say? In itself, that's true. The cross street is Bong Bong Street, which runs through the centre of the Bowral township. The street running to my side and which turns into a pedestrian mall (briefly, at least) on the far side is Wingecarribee Street. What makes the shot special - okay, what makes the PLACE special - is the sign. Gumnut Patisserie. The patisserie is to my right, and this is its outdoor seating area. (The seating area continues behind me, serving other cafes in the street. The street to my left is one way only, and I suspect that it was reduced from 2 lanes to allow extra space for that to happen. Whoever came up with that town planning idea earned their wage, which is something of a rarity in Australia. It's an excellent idea to generate business for the area.)

The patisserie supplies pastries as well as savoury pies. This was our stop for breakfast on what up until then had been a ridiculously rainy day in a ridiculously rainy month. I wanted to go back to my Roman roots and have a traditional cappuccino and cornetto al cioccolato (chocolate croissant) for breakfast. We put on our masks (no longer officially required but still demanded for admission to the store), placed our order and came out and sat here waiting for it to arrive. I can only imagine (and plan to someday see) what it would be like on a clear, sunny morning.

In any case, all parts of the breakfast were delicious, including the little caramel treat that they placed on top of the cappuccino cup lids.
