P2260004 The Window Of Desire

Gumnut Patisserie, Bong Bong Street Bowral NSW view map

In the previous shot, I described the Gumnut Patisserie which we went to for breakfast on our way to the Retford Park estate.

If I lived closer to the Bowral area I'd consider coming back and doing a shot of this when there is less glare and reflection so that you could see the goodies within. It's not just the sweet patisserie products; they also produce savoury pies. I copped a whiff of a few of them as we were sitting there having our breakfast. Had we not already had plans for a significant lunch (more on that later in the gallery), I would have been sorely tempted to have one of those then.

When the weather is rainy and humid (as it was that day in buckets) I tend not to wear a full shirt but rather a T-shirt or similar and, if I'm going photographing, my photographer's vest over the top. Since we were going to a nice restaurant later in the day, however, I wanted something with a collar at least, and decided to wear my replica Italia World Cup 1982 jersey. As I was coming out of the store, a guy patted me on the shoulder and said "Viva Italia!" I was quite chuffed about that save for one thing; if I'm thinking in English as I had been all that morning it takes me about 10 or 15 seconds to switch my brain into Italian, just as when I'm thinking in Italian and someone asks me a question in English (as an American tourist did in Roma last time I was there) it takes about 10 to 15 seconds for me to switch back to English. I therefore looked blankly for a few seconds before smiling and responding in Italian, though I don't remember what I actually said. It was an expression of agreement, however, naturalmente!
