NSW - Southern Highlands FLICK'D

Note to self; this has been moved to Flickr. Do no further updates here.

Bowral is the largest town in the Southern Highlands area. It's about 90 minutes from both Sydney and the Illawarra. Its elevation is about 690m, and its population is around 13,000. Average temperatures range from 13.4 to 25.5°C in January (summer) and 2° to 11.5° in July (winter). The demographics tend to skew a little older than average since it has become a desirable place to retire, with many retirement villages. The percentage of population under 45 is only 38.7% compared to a national average of 59.4%.

Also, it's a very nice little place to visit.

Bowral's main claim to fame is as the place that cricketer Sir Donald Bradman grew up. (He wasn't born there, contrary to popular belief; his family moved there when he was about 2 1/2.) Though of course how many post-Boomers even remember him (other than cricket tragics) is another matter. Nonetheless there are a number of attractions related to the man himself in town. I have yet to see any of them, though if I do and you see photos of them below, you'll know that I just haven't remembered to update the gallery heading.
