St. John’s Episcopal Church, situated on Lafayette Square, which is across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, was built in 1816. The basement of this hall was set on fire by Black Lives Matter protesters in the summer of 2020, and the church was the backdrop for Trump’s infamous Bible photo op after the protesters had been forcibly removed from the vicinity.
