St. John’s Episcopal Church

St. John’s Episcopal Church, situated on Lafayette Square, which is across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, was built in 1816. The basement of this hall was set on fire by Black Lives Matter protesters in the summer of 2020, and the church was the backdrop for Trump’s infamous Bible photo op after the protesters had been forcibly removed from the vicinity.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

So we’re back to this again, posted earlier:

A beautiful old church used by a despicable man. The windows are fabulous. An excellent message for our times. V

It's certainly a shame that the protests had to happen at all, let alone violent and destructive ones. It's also a shame that people let themselves be duped by a charlatan. Nice capture of the church.

I wonder if those BLM protestors who set the church on fire were ever prosecuted for arson?

Interesting window decorations for a church. A great looking light and I like the message on the board. V

It's a shame the old church was not respected, but like Kevin says the church reader board sends the right message. Nice framing and shot. V

A very nice composition and a shame that this church was set on fire and got away with it .
The damage done during this 2020 summer and most got away with it is amazing
Hope the damage was not extensive to the lovely church nice cell phone work as always Helen.

Not the usual decorations for a church. V

The church sign is appropriate for all times of course, but perhaps especially for our present time.
