Advanced BigY Y700 Testing in the US and UK:
BigY testing includes advanced Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNP) testing which is now being used to further migration research on the rare Haplogroup H2 now listed as H-P96 (was F-M89). The new SNP testing is much more accurate than the standard Short Tandem Repeat (STR) testing at 37, 67 or 111 markers. Through this new science, the Haplogroup has undergone major modifications as new SNPs were discovered during the advanced testing.

The BigY Y700 testing has moved the project forwarded to establish a timeline to common ancestors for the US and UK testing groups. The BigY has the ability to match Ancient YDNA that has been discovered by Archeology projects and BigY testing.

UK, US Common Ancestor:
One of the major objectives of this project is to find the common ancestor between the first Thomas Boyt of Nansemond and the tested lines in the UK. The good news is that we now know the common ancestor, or at least what his YDNA SNP was H-BY37188. The bad news is that this common ancestor, H-BY37188 b. 750 years ago +/- 250 1300 CE 95% b. 1042 CE and 1483 CE

Above are the 3 main YDNA BigY branches off the common ancestor who is at the top slot of this Boyt haplotree tree. Since all branches are a version of the Boyt surname, the common male ancestor was likely named Boyt. Surname usage in both Ireland and England started around 1066.

The earliest spelling of Boyt has been found in Drogheda Ireland and Bristol England in the year 1237. Records continue to be found around Drogheda and Dublin until 1433 in Dublin and again in 1668 Dublin. Very few records of Boyt have been found during modern times in Ireland. https://pbase.com/daveb/med

The Thomas Boyt from Drogheda Ireland and arrested in Bristol England in the year 1237 appears to be the earliest record. Based in the estimate, early Boyt records in Purbeck would also fall into that time period. However, no US branches have been found in the UK and no connecting lines from Dorset have been found by YDNA or paper trail.

All US branches are positive for H-BY37194 which has not been found in the UK or Ireland. The age of BY37194 is 1500 CE 95% b. 1279 CE and 1684 CE which could have come from Ireland, England or France.

All UK branches are also positive for the common ancestor H-BY37188, but do not match branches in the US. Making each UK branch a direct descendent from the top of the tree except for the most recent SNP H-M4250 which is a branch off H-FT339938.
