March 13, 2021

Over the course of this pandemic I have done quite a bit of shooting and reloading. At the outset of the year I decided to standardize on some basic loads and bullets to simplify matters. Along the way I have prepared a lot of brass to help consistency. I have also decided to convert to coated bullets for all my target loads. Another step was to fix on a limited number of powders. I have got it down to three.

Because of this trend to consistency, things have become easier. I don't have to fiddle around adjusting dies. I have figured out just the right amount of neck expansion. Things are running smoothly. This morning I made essentially the final adjustments to all my dies. I have converted from the 148gr hollow base wad cutter to the 158gr coated semi wad cutter. Really all I did was clean out the seating die (the hollow base wad cutters were waxy and messy) and adjust the depth of seating. The die was already set for the correct crimp. Now off to the races to load 250 .38 specials.
