You may think this is another post about food. Well, it is. The subject, however, is not the great Rueben sandwich you see. It is about potato chips. We are planning a trip to visit our son Robert and his family. We always ask if there is something local we can bring. This time he wanted Bob's potato chips.

The story here is that we don't eat potato chips too often now days. When we do it is for a special occasion, like a birthday (usually mine). Bob's was a brand of chips we loved many years ago when the kids were still at home. They were the best around. They were a kettle style chip which was unusual for the time. We would devour bags of them.

I went to Kroger and couldn't find them. The same with HEB. Unknown to me, the company was bought out and eventually that brand was discontinued. They were a great hit in the Houston area. It turns out that there are many brands of kettle style potato chips available these days. We had tried a certain brand (called Kettle, how imaginative! The marketing department must have worked overtime to come up with that one.) and found that they were reminiscent of Bob's. So we bought a bunch and they are destined for Alpharetta.

Oh yes, that is a glass of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. You can't have chips without beer. Also pictured is my home made Remoulade sauce. Great on Reubens.
