Wednesday US COVID News

“Trump acknowledges knowingly playing down the ‘deadly’ coronavirus”
Washington Post

“In a series of interviews with BobWoodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu. Trump's admissions are in stark contrast to his frequent public comments at the time insisting that the virus was "going to disappear" and "all work out fine."

“Trump told Bob Woodward he knew in February that COVID-19 was 'deadly stuff' but wanted to 'play it down'”
NBC News

“President Donald Trump acknowledged the severity of the COVID-19 crisis months before he would ever admit its seriousness in public. Indeed, even as Trump was telling the public to treat the disease “like you treat the flu” and downplaying its deadliness in press conferences and interviews, he was telling Woodward he knew it was far more dangerous than the flu. Woodward’s recording makes it clear that the president was not simply misinformed or being wishful about the virus, but deliberately lying about what he knew. As the country got off to a slow and ineffective response to the virus, Trump would say that the pandemic “came out of nowhere” and that the danger could not have been foreseen. In fact, he was specifically aware of the threat, and chose to misinform the public about it.”

“Trump told Bob Woodward he knew in February that COVID-19 was 'deadly stuff' but wanted to 'play it down'”
MSN News

"U.S. President Donald Trump had been aware in early February of how deadly and contagious the novel coronavirus was, but played down the threat. ’You just breathe the air and that's how it's passed," Trump said in a Feb. 7 interview. ‘It's also more deadly than even your strenuous flus.’"

Trump knew back in early February… and over 190,000 Americans have lost their lives between then & now. Plus hundreds of thousands more now have lifetime, long term, and chronic health problems from COVID.

Knowing for over 7 months that the disease is easily airborne and deadly, he still encourages his followers - even today - to not wear a mask to protect themselves or others. Trump also still asks people to gather together at large group rallies just to praise him. He even has his followers sign a waver that they can’t hold him responsible for their possible illness or deaths. American lives obviously mean nothing to him. People are nothing more than a means to his self-centered ends.

America leads the world by far in coronavirus cases and deaths. However, this didn’t have to be!!!

With full knowledge of what was going on, Trump could have spared so many Americans of death & misery by actually being a true leader who cares about those he is there to lead. Instead, he thought merely about himself and what might benefit him. He has repeatedly exploited the rest of America. Perhaps he feels everyone - but him - are “losers”; like he’s labeled those in the US military.

Great capture of this beautiful marigold. I can't believe it's that cool there! The rain, however, sounds familiar.
