Our friends Ken and Mickie drove over to New Orleans from their place in Pensacola this morning. We met them at the PT-305 exhibit which is part of the National WW II Museum. This boat was rebuilt from the ground up over a period of ten years or so. It was restored to running condition and it is used some times to take people on excursions on Lake Pontchartrain. We spent a couple hours there for a tour of the boat with a very knowledgeable person who was involved in the restoration. The PT-305 served in the Mediterranean and was returned to the USA intact just before the war ended. There is quite a bit of documentation about this boat. Most interestingly, that boat was built by the Higgins Company right here in New Orleans. As part of its recommissioning it was berthed in one of the slips that it visited while under construction.
Today's photo is of Ginny manning the 40mm Bofors gun on the aft deck.
