And so it is Thanksgiving Day. We had planned to have dinner out, but by the time we started to try making reservations, things were pretty much booked up. Ginny got a table at the Red Fish Grill on Bourbon Street for 10:30 am. That is pretty early, but we were handsomely rewarded with a magnificent buffet. Although there was some sliced turkey breast available, we avoided it. Hey, this is New Orleans. So I made a few trips to the buffet just to get gumbo, oysters and boiled shrimp. There was a nice salad bar as well, but I didn't want that stuff. There was oyster dressing, fried catfish, other fish stuff and some prime rib. What a feast. Add a nice local beer and there you have it. One of the most memorable Thanksgiving feasts I have had. I think next year we will make reservations a little earlier and try for noon.
Today's photo is of an ice carved cornucopia filled with boiled shrimp. Life is good.
