Day 5
Today it was touring on Roanoke Island. It was the location of the Roanoke Colony which was established in 1587 as the first English settlement in the new world. When supply ships returned, the colonists and their stuff had disappeared. Nobody knows what happened. Theories abound. I think they were taken by aliens, but what do I know.

The town on the Island is Manteo. It is a tourist town. Quaint and all that. We walked around for a while. Today's photo is of the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, which is a reconstruction. The original was lit in 1877. The reconstruction was finished in 2004. When the light is crappy, always try sepia.
