This was the venue for the orchid exhibit – a glass-covered courtyard between the American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, perfect on a sunny day. The orchids were situated in the four corners of the space.
I’ll end the gallery here, unless I give in and take yet more pictures of orchids if we go back to see the other three-quarters of the exhibit ;-).

We went to the opening day of “Orchids: Amazing Adaptations,” a joint collaboration with Smithsonian Gardens, the United States Botanic Garden, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. The installation showcases how orchids have adapted to their many different environments and can be found on every single continent except Antarctica. We only managed to look at a bit more than a quarter of the exhibit, so I’m sure we’ll be going back to see the rest of it.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
