Zoosection Schizophora (Muscoid Flies and Allies)

Shaw Woods

My world, from spring to autumn, largely consists of spending as much time as possible outdoors looking for insects primarily, but also birds, plants, mammals, etc. Sometimes, quite often in fact, things turn up and I have no idea what they are. This is one such. Turns out it is a fly larva, but which family of flies is difficult to ascertain. Anyway, a pretty pink blob! ID from iNaturalist.

very beautiful Christine, that's fascinating in nature if you go looking, you will always find something else and trying to name this is so fun, and this is yet another beautiful photo BV
