Here we are on the viewing platform across the river from the final piece of trail to the lodge. However, because of bears like this one, and any within 100 yards from the platform, the floating, or the trail near either end of the floating bridge, we could not cross the bridge. We ended up stuck on the platform for 4 hours before it was safe to cross! However, it was not that bad because there were plenty of bears to photograph during that time. Over the winter, they are building a new elevated bridge from Brooks Lodge all the way over the river to the platform. That will eliminate this as a place where you get blocked on the trail.
