According to wikipedia, the first Buddha statue in Kotoku-in was a wooden statue. It was completed in 1238.
Due to some unknown reason, the wooden statue was missed. In 1252, a bronze statue was raised to replace the missed wooden one.
This bronze buddha statue is the existing one. In the other words, it has been raised over 800 years.
