We could see a giant Buddha’s slippers hung on the wall just at the left side of the Great Buddha. The dimension of Buddha’s slippers is in 1.8 meters long; 0.9 meters wide and the weight is 45 kilograms. The slippers is presented by Matsuzaka Children’s Club of Hitachi-Ota City (Ibaraki Prefecture). The first slippers were fabricated and presented by children of The Club in 1951. It is to wish the Great Buddha could wear them to walk around the country and bring happiness to the nation. They have presented a pair of new slipper to Kotoku-in in every three years since 1956.
