Water guzzler and ruins... 20140524_5568

The white thing near the bottom is a water guzzler, a device that captures and stores rain water for use by wildlife. The rectangular portion collects rain and channels it into the round tank next to it.

Near the center of the photo are ruins of small buildings that were probably related to uranium mining in the 1950s and 1960s.

Shot during a hike that started at the visitor's center in Dead Horse Point State Park and followed the canyon rim to a point overlooking the blue evaporation ponds of Intrepid Potash.
