Shot during a hike that started at the visitor's center in Dead Horse Point State Park and followed the canyon rim to a point overlooking the blue evaporation ponds of Intrepid Potash.
The goal of this hike was the left side of the prominent U-shaped depression in the ridge. The tower at the right end of the depression is Point 5822 (an elevation that appears on topographic maps of the area). To the right of the tower is the southernmost evaporation pond.
Just below and left of center is a light area on the ground---a water guzzler that I and Flickr member Jim Doss visited in 2010. It shows up well in the original-size version of this image and even better in the next image.
This view is east-southeast. Geotagging is approximate.
