The bride underwing moth (Catocala neogama), #8798

Reveler Conservation Area

Camouflaged well against the trunk of a poplar tree in the woods at the conservation area. This is a very large moth, and I only saw it because I inadvertently disturbed it and it flew from one poplar to another nearby. I thought at first it was a chickadee flying away, it is that large - wingspan up to 80mm.
