Rustic ceilings

The ceiling throughout the entire fort was like this, even in the more decorative reception rooms posted earlier.

We’re leaving tomorrow night, and before then I have to repack all my clothes and other belongings, wash the embassy’s linens, clear out the refrigerators, clean up the piles of sand Sahraa has deposited all around the house in the one day since our housekeeper was here and anything else that needs doing. I’ll have my laptop until the bitter end, though, so will probably still be around Pbase till evening. It will be a long and difficult trip, especially for Sahraa…

We went out today for one last, nostalgic tour of Riyadh, even to a very rich new neighborhood, so I now have even more pictures left than before. As I said on a previous picture, these Saudi galleries will be continuing for the foreseeable future!

Great abstract view. I love the irregular shapes of the branches holding it up. Beautiful! ~BV~

That really is a unique style of architecture! Have a safe journey home. Hope the dog has a pleasant journey. We had a standard poodle that sailed with us on the SS United States to France, but when we left France on the United States three years later, our dog was flown to Minnesota. He did quite well and seemed to have no ill effects. Voted.

Wow ! I love this shot - very abstracty - you'd never guess it was a ceiling - more like wind fences on a beach ! BV

looks like dried out rice paddies at first, but a nice effect even when sorted out
