A photograph of Old Riyadh in 1943. How it has changed, if you compare this to the spectacular buildings in my architecture gallery! The Masmak fort is at the top of the picture. Sadly, most of the mud brick structures have been demolished, and we saw those that are left being torn down the day we were there.
I’ve been rushing through this sub-gallery of the fort, but I just don’t think I can get it done before we leave. However, I still have a good number of pictures from Riyadh that I want to post even if I’m no longer here (although I’m so sad to be leaving and wish I could be). So for the many people who have told me how sorry they are that the Saudi pictures will end, it will be a while before they do!
