This is, I believe, a parasitized caterpillar, or a 'mummy caterpillar', parasitized by Braconid wasps. To see a healthy caterpillar of this species, click on PREVIOUS.

Previously the Cattail Caterpillar was known as Henry's Marsh Moth Caterpillar (Simyra henrici).
