Sadly leaving Fes and its medina behind, we spent a large part of the day traveling to Erfoud, an oasis town in the Sahara Desert, passing through an amazing variety of landscapes on the way.
The town of Ifrane, in the Middle Atlas Mountains, is known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and with good reason. The houses all looked like they belonged in an Alpine setting, it was incredibly green, and it snows there. This was the tail end of a heavy snowfall two weeks earlier, which our driver had taken a picture of.
