This is a very long-distance and severely cropped image of the new presidential palace, still under construction. I had taken a few pictures of the fence with the artist’s rendering of it, when I realized I had a picture of part of the palace itself behind the fence. So both are in this picture.
I think I’ll end this Abu Dhabi gallery here; I realized I just didn’t take a lot of pictures of the city, unlike some of the other places we visited, and I don’t think I did it justice.
I had heard there wasn’t much to see there, and we only stopped in Abu Dhabi to see the grand mosque, which was worth the trip alone. But it was in fact a nice place, with more than I had realized, except we didn’t know where it was and hadn’t planned on having an extra day to see things. Some of the architecture we didn’t see is here http://www.e-architect.co.uk/dubai/abu-dhabi-buildings and in particular this amazing building http://www.e-architect.co.uk/dubai/capital-gate-abu-dhabi which I would have adored. Maybe there is reason for another trip there!
Anyway, thanks as always for the great support for the gallery! I’ll move on next to Dubai, where we had been before and where I also didn’t take a lot of pictures this time around. Go figure;-).
