Squash art

Somebody had a sense of humor when making up this display!

Around Thanksgiving there was an abundance of squash, gourds and pumpkins in the supermarkets, along with halal turkeys (slaughtered according to Islamic law, see picture below), pumpkin pie mix, canned and fresh cranberries and packaged stuffing. Obviously American Thanksgiving isn’t celebrated here by anybody but American expats, but it was nice to be able to do so that easily!

A turkey display posted earlier today, along with some mincemeat:

Again: what an unexpected surprise!
Your photoblog (if I may call it so) certainly gives a completely different view of the country than what most of us have.

I am assuming that halal slaughter is similar to kosher slaughter. I am trying to be more vegetarian, and just gave up pork yesterday to protest the way pigs are farmed. I will spare you a picture. Cute display!
