Holidays that we know in the West are not and in some cases can not be celebrated here. We even put all our holiday decorations (like my beautiful Polish ornaments!) in storage in Antwerp after we left Budapest because we knew we wouldn’t be able to have a tree or lights or anything holiday-ish like that.

Still, one occasionally finds things here that – while not celebrating any holiday – do remind one of more festive times. This will be a small sub-gallery of scenes I’ve come across that in one way or another do just that for me, for a variety of occasions. I’ll be including some pictures from last year that I already posted because these kinds of things are hard to come by, and I thought some of them were quite fascinating.
