The river crossing at the bottom of the valley in St Lazare was little-used and seemed undersized. This whole contraption of Jersey
barriers didn't block off a work area: instead, it seemed to be designed only to prevent long trucks from crossing over the bridge,
which couldn't handle heavy traffic. I snaked slowly through the barriers, then turned around and twisted back through them again.
