We had quite a bit of fun this evening. Our friend Carl is the chairman of the Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest, a fundraising event his German Club does every fall. This year they decided to have a special event, the Brewmaster's Dinner, the evening before the Octoberfest started. He invited us to attend, and we had a great time. There was plenty of beer and the catered dinner was first rate. All German, of course. There was a band and Ginny and I danced for a while. It made us realize that we have no earthly idea how to polka and such, but it was fun. Carl took us on a tour of their facility, which is enormous. The club was founded in 1853, so there is quite a heritage in this particular group.
Anyway, here I am enjoying a Paulaner Octoberfest beer with Carl. Carl was in the same research group as Dabney and me. We have known him for over forty years. How cool is that? I got to spend some time with two classmates from graduate school in the same week.
