Village view and a heartwarming story

This was part of the view from the abandoned village. Nothing to do with Asir, but I wanted to relate a wonderful thing that happened today.

I took Sahraa out for a very short walk (due to the heat) this afternoon, and while we were walking down the street somebody drove by and shouted, “Nice dog you have!” I saw the car make a U-turn as Sahraa and I turned up our street. The car followed us and stopped, and the man (a Saudi) asked if he could pet Sahraa, which he did. Then his wife got out of the car, too, and also wanted to visit with Sahraa. It turns out they used to have a Husky in some other country, but they couldn’t bring it back into Saudi Arabia (I think it’s a banned breed, and basically, people don't like or have dogs here). They really miss having a dog and just fell in love with Sahraa – hugging, petting and kissing her. We exchanged phone numbers, and I invited them to come over any time they have a craving to spend time with a dog.

There is something about pets and little babies in carriages. They all make great mediums to meet people. Perhaps, if politicians were to bring their pets or babies to work we would get better decisions made.

Wonderful story! It's good to have confirmation there are still pet lovers in these countries, animals don't always have the best of lives there.
