The baboons of Asir -- on the fence

We started our second day off in Asir with new adventures, among them seeing baboons all over the place. They congregate around garbage dumps (or more correctly, places where garbage has been dumped) and along the sides of roads. Unfortunately, they run away if you get too close, unless, of course, you have food to give them, in which case they are said to become aggressive.

This is a series of four baboon pictures, most shot from a moving vehicle. I tried so hard to get a good capture of them, with passengers in our car even calling out sightings, but it was tough to get and retain focus, and the driver didn’t seem inclined to slow down (they were just baboons, after all).

Ha! I really like this image. Now, we know who the bad boys are, or should we say bad baboons!!!!! Fantastic captured, Helen. Excellent image. It really tells a story. V.

My favorite of the Baboon series... the wall is such an interesting juxtaposition. V

That gnarly tree, those rather sentinel like baboons, and the Arabic script (graffiti??) combine to give this a somewhat surreal aspect, but beautiful! V

what a curious band of onlookers...the Arabic writing seems echoed by the branches of that agonized tree..

Great catch on the fly. Wonder if the sign says "Don't feed the baboons" LOL :-)

Super catch considering the circumstances, and the graffiti adds the curiosity factor to the image. Wonder what it says.

What a wonderfully composed image ~ especially from a moving vehicle!!! I love how the baboons are just hanging out watching the world (immmm.... traffic) go by! BV
