Kuwaiti Souk, clothing, and then some

This looks like a normal clothing concession, but some of the items for sale were a bit surprising, if you look closely, and especially sold by a man (who had left the stall for a moment, thankfully). There is currently a “feminization” campaign in progress to employ Saudi women in shops that cater only to women, but I guess that hasn’t yet hit souks like this, where even the abayas are sold strictly by men.

This souk was definitely not an easy place to take pictures – a lot of locals, merchants everywhere, just a normal market that’s not a tourist attraction (so if you pull out a camera, you immediately attract attention). As a result I didn’t take many pictures, just of a few things that caught my eye for being different, like this one.

I see the bras now, crazy indeed them being sold by men. I assume there were no fitting rooms at this soukh either...

The American flag shirts are interesting.

It is interesting to see a non-tourist market... reminds me of some places I've visited in other parts of the world... and yes, I see what you mean by surprising goods :-) V

That one actually looks like a stall that you'd find in any market.
I can imagine it being difficult to take photos. I was approached by a stall holder when I was taking pics at the market in Oldham which has a lot of Pakistani stalls.
