This wall was located on the other side of the gate in this series of three images. My guess is that it’s a modern version of the very old wall below:

polygonal dry stone masonry is as old as the hills, but often still in use (here more on walls than buildings); there is a technique for getting the particular shapes of rock to make a 3D jigsaw and, as you show, taper in towards the top a little
