St Louis was built in 1857 by US representative Edward Gay and is still in the Gay family. It is a private residence and is not open to the public.
The home was built on the former site of Home Plantation which was originally built by Revolutionary War Captain Ervin. This home was destroyed by the Mississippi River. St Louis was named for the City of St Louis.
The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
