The 53,000 square foot plantation house was completed in 1859. No expense was spared during the construction. It is located near White Castle, Louisiana, the town named after the plantation house.

Nottoway is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is open for tours, it serves as the focal point of weddings and special events, and also has bed and breakfast accommodations.

Nottoway is the largest standing plantation remaining in the south.
