Dinosaur Provincial Park is in the heart of the Alberta Badlands. The varying formations and upright towers with caps (hoodoos) are found all along the Deer River valley. The structures are formed over time by water, wind and sun. The plentiful hoodoos are the ones with caps.
There is a camp ground here. At this time of year, the trees along the Red Deer River are brilliant yellow adding aliveness to the desolate feel of the hills and mountains.
This is rattlesnake country.
