I suspect we had seen this 'solemn monument' on previous visits but I believe this is the first time we've posted a photo.
Actually on this trip the only taxi we took was the official airport taxi to and from the airport.
The driver on that last day conversed with us in Spanish and was quite easy to understand.
After a while he asked us if we were friends, brothers or a couple ("pareja'"). John answered "pareja",
not thinking at that moment about some recent high profile stories about same sex "parejas" who had been ejected onto the
highway shoulder by deeply religious but totally unethical, (not to say just plain nasty) taxi drivers here in the good ole' USA
This driver, who certainly didn't look particularly fashionable or 'hip', surprised us with his friendliness and acceptance.
And if you are thinking that he was positioning himself for a big tip all I can say is..... he got it!
