Fisher is located on the western portion of Louisiana in the piney woods. It was built as a sawmill town and is still today. The Kansas City Southern Railroad passes through town on the way from Kansas City to the Gulf of Mexico.
Fisher is home to "Sawmill Days" festival held in May each year.
