The Tyne bridge built in 1928 and I am sure it will still be there in 100 years time, however the Olympic games being held in the UK for the third time, is a once in a lifetime event that I am sure I will never see again. Newcastle was host to some of the Olympic soccer matches

Absolutely memorable - and the grand scale of that bridge suggests the scope of the Olympic Games themselves.

Back in the 70's the A1 did cross the Tyne bridge and carry on through Newcastle

Its only when you look at the buildings do you get a true sense of scale of the bridge. I still remember crossing it as a kid, I think my dad messed up and missed the A1 and ended up going right through Newcastle!

This is great! I didn't realize until you posted this that some of the games (women's soccer for one) are played there in Newcastle. Those rings are unmistakable around the world. Yes, this is a very prideful time and will go down in history as one of the years the Olympics were Englands!
