The House of Blackheads was originally built in 1334 for the city's guilds. Over time it was solely occupied by the Blackheads, a guild of unmarried foreign merchants whose name derives from their patron, St. Maurice (often depicted as a Moor). That's St. Maurice on the right of the gate. The window at right was a very nice amber store where I bought a very nice amber necklace from the artist. Amber is everywhere in the Baltics, but this place really stood out above all the many souvenir shops.
