Stare

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Skinny little legs, or is it all that skinny under a big bundle of wool! Well done.

if you don't stop and look, you'll never get the picture..a worthy lesson from you, Davies, and yon woolly sentinel, who looks about to tip over...V

She's telling you something.

so perfect the words to accompany this handsome sheep in the meadow. We stare at one another in wonderment.
Sheila17-Apr-2012 22:25
Were you whispering sweet nothings? She seems to be listening to something :-)
I do like the poem.

So jealous. A decent looking sheep, great light and her head is up ... and she's looking at you.
I get bums, dirty ones :0( Seriously, this is a great shot.
I take some comfort cos I think her head is tilted to get a better aim before she charges!

Lovely light and the first time I have read the complete poem - thank you.

Do your and Phil's sheep ever meet up for a chinwag or perhaps swap knitting patterns? They ought to.

Great sentiment and a lovely capture of this staring sheep in the golden light.

This sheep has succedded in adding a certain coquettish head pose to the stare. Lovely photo, accompanied by a poem I learned in school and still quote from often, sometimes to the annoyance of the busy efficient ones I meet from time to time:)
