Knapweed (Centaurea)

A very pretty plant that is not native to Canada, but has escaped cultivation as a garden ornamental and is spreading widely in natural areas. It is considered a serious invasive pest by many botanists.
This was photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, where it was not planted, but appeared one year and every year since. It has not spread widely at this site, so far.
