Knapweed (Centaurea)

Photographed in Larose Forest/ This is a non-native species considered to be a serious invasive pest in some areas. In the forest it grows in very small numbers along a few of the concession roads.

Asteraceae with interesting, compound ray florets?

They are invasive, but they are very pretty, I think.

Question is: who or what introduced it? It is a lovely looking flower and your image is beautiful with that surprise filament of spider web from the leaf to the calyx (I believe). The violet shades are made even more intense by contrast with the white inner glowings.
