26th - "Destination Moonbase Alpha"

Clee Hill, Salop view map

Looks like Commander John "just call me Walter O" Koenig has his hands full in this 1978 TV movie: "after an atomic explosion blasts the Moon out of Earth orbit, Moonbase Alpha drifts in space, with 300 people on board. When a rescue team from Earth arrives in a faster-than-light space ship, everyone is overjoyed that they can now return to Earth. But Moonbase Commander John Koenig, having undergone an experimental brain soothing process after receiving a concussion in a crash on the Lunar surface, sees not friends from Earth but gruesome monsters which have telepathically caused all others on Alpha to see an illusion of an Earth party. The aliens are desperate for radiation and plan to manipulate the Alphans into detonating nuclear waste on the Lunar surface, reducing the Moon and everyone on it to dust. Koenig must expose this conspiracy to save his people"

An eerie landscape on the top of Clee Hill yesterday - these are the remains of the quarries and quarry-buildings which once made Clee Hill a productive source of dhustone and other stone; definitely made me think of inhospitable places...

Ha - poor Commander John Koenig... And what a sad desolate place this looks Doug - good for the movie...
Johnny JAG26-Jun-2011 17:29
That looks like so many places around here.

It may look desolated but as long as there is water and grass it will soon be beautiful again. Great for the title Doug!

Looks pretty desolate on the moon, the grass seeds seem to be trying to take tho :o)
