This courtyard is near the entrance to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The Crypt of St. Helena is part of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Queen Helena was the mother of the Roman emperor Constantine. After Constantine converted to Christianity, his mother Helena went to the Holy Land and located the tomb where supposedly Jesus rose. She also supposedly discovered the True Cross.
