This small lochan at the foot of the Glencoe valley is surrounded by the massive bulk of the Three sisters which rise almost directly out of the water. In front of them are some scrubby trees which serve to lend scale to the massive bulk of the background hills. Loch Achtriochtan is a superb place to photograph reflections though Spring is best because during these months the little reeds grow up through the shallow waters and provide a green fringe of stunning luminosity and freshness.
